Playing Civilian Rugby
Service personnel wishing to play rugby for a civilian rugby club have ‘no duty status’ and do so at their own risk and in their own time. Permission to play rugby does not carry with it any admission of public liability for any injury sustained. Therefore, players who desire to play are to be fully covered against risk of injury and:
- Seek personal insurance.
- Ask the club concerned regarding their player insurance cover/policy.
- Ensure the club is an accredited member of the Rugby Football Union.
Please note the above criteria for charity rugby matches/events also apply.
