Royal Navy Rugby Union (Women) team captain Lieutenant Commander Charlotte Fredrickson has been selected to represent the UK Armed Forces (UKAF) Women against Wales Women at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Wednesday 8th November 2017. This is the UKAF Women's annual Remembrance Match, held to commemorate all those who have lost their lives in military service, and also to raise funds for the vital work of the Royal British Legion. The clocks have gone back, the nights are drawing in, the British Legion have launched their Annual Poppy Appeal and Remembrance Day approaches. So too does the annual UK Armed Forces Remembrance Match. This year the match will be played at the Ashton Gate stadium in Bristol on Wednesday 8th November, and the best of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force Rugby Union squads will combine to take on Bristol United RFC. It was with some trepidation that the Royal Navy Rugby Union U23 team travelled to Devonport for their fixture against the Exeter Chiefs Outreach side. Last year the young Navy players suffered a heavy defeat, losing 15 – 43 in Plymouth and this year they were keen to make a better impression. And this they duly did, coming back from behind to level the score 30-30 before the final whistle.
