Ady Cherrington receives RNRU President’s Commendation
Mr Ady Cherrington, the RNRU Rugby Development Officer, was presented with an RNRU President’s Commendation at the RNRU Members Clubs Annual General Meeting held at HMS Temeraire on 10 December 2015 by RNRU President, Vice Admiral Sir Philip Jones KCB.
As the Rugby Development Officer, he works diligently and most professionally advancing the game of rugby for the RFU, and the RNRU in particular. However, during the past three years Cherry has taken on additional responsibility working within the Rugby World Cup Legacy project. In particular, the RWC Team Base project relied on his dedication, perseverance and sheer hard work, culminating in the exemplary hosting of the USA Eagles team in Portsmouth.
His drive, organisational skills, passion and enthusiasm have also been instrumental in the growing success of the RNRU Beach Rugby 7s competition, which has attracted many new players and additional sponsorship.
The Fleet Commander joined members of the RNRU at their annual general meeting and took the opportunity to award Ady his commendation. He said “It is my great pleasure to recognise the work of Mr Adrian Cherrington, the RNRU’s Rugby Development Officer…he is an outstanding leader who epitomises the ethos of the Royal Navy Rugby Union in all that he does.”
