Announcement – Ivor ‘Knocker’ White
It is with sadness that the RNRU reports the news of the death of former Devonport Services player, Ivor 'Knocker' White. Ivor passed away on Friday 5th August after a short illness, having reached the grand old age of 92.
His association with the club began in the 1940s and he continued playing in the second row until the late 1960s. He also fulfilled the roles of Fixtures Secretary, Bar Manager and was the Club President from 1986 to 2002. Elected as a life member of the Sporting Blues, his experience and sportsmanship will be sorely missed.
His funeral will take place at 2pm on Wednesday 24 August at St Johns Church, Hooe, Plymstock and will continue afterwards at the Mountbatten Centre. Donations can be made to the RNLI in lieu of flowers. If you would like further details please contact Ivor's son, Hugh, by email hugh@whitesagency.com
Our thoughts and prayers are with Fay, Ann, Hugh and Ivor’s grandchildren Erin, Nick, Marianne, Aimee and Lottie, and Ivor’s friends at this time.
