HMS LANCASTER - RUGBY IN JEDDAH
With temperatures in the 100’s the Rugby team got out to play while the Red Rose was alongside in Jeddah for 24 hours. The fixture was organised against a local expat team with the game being played on grass, without any posts. The game was in the form of 7’s with 4 quarters of 7 mins each being played due to the very warm weather. The red rose sporting a brand new strip thanks to CPO May and CPO Cherrington with Ktees doing there bit with the ships crest came under a opening barrage finding there selves 4-1 down early on. The red rose came storming back into the game with some great moves. Tries were scored by L/S Mccoll 3, L/S Rogers, L/S Berry and ET Narey 1 try a piece to bring the game very close at the end with the expats sneaking pass the line to win 7 tries to 6. Overall a very good run out for the team with great hopes for the rugby team when they get a full match later on in the deployment.
