Jonathon Humphrey – Player Profile
As we approach the start of the season we are looking at some of our players and sharing with you some of their thoughts, highlights and achievements.
Jonathon Humphrey
'Chicken legs' as he is known by the squad has had a significant influence in Senior XV rugby over the last few years. He is one of the most talented backs in recent years and is comfortable on the wing, at fly half or where he plays his best rugby, at full back. His slender build mask a huge punch, coupled with fearless commitment he is a formidable last line of defence. However, it is in attack he really comes in to his own, his ability to 'pick a line', punch through and exploit it using his pace is key to his success. His skills are perfect for the sevens arena's and he has represented the Sharks more than any other player in recent seasons.
Winner of several 'gym monkey' awards within the squad, his leg press stats are legendary. This is just one indication of his commitment, not only to his own development but to the team effort.

What playing The British Army at Twickenham means to me:
Walking out on that patch of grass in the middle of Twickenham is so hard to describe in words. So many feelings and emotions hit you but it is better and easier the second time around. Just being part in such a long standing tradition that is so well supported by all 3 services is just amazing. Just knowing that I could influence things whilst being in the field and getting patted on the back at work gives you a buzz knowing everyone is rooting for you. When playing in a Royal Navy Rugby Union shirt against the British Army or in a friendly, I always want to play my best and get a result. It's the feeling that you don't get playing at club level it's by far the best experience I have ever and will ever experience and feel privileged to be part of it. The day it ends for me will no doubt be the worst feeling I will ever experience.
