Morton Matches Maggie
Before Saracens Women played Worcester in their latest Women’s Premiership match former England International and World Cup winner Maggie Alphonsi was made a Life Member of the Saracens ARFC, joining internationals from the men’s game like Richard Hill and Kieran Bracken. During the match Maggie celebrated her honour by scoring the home teams second try as they eased to a 12 – 0 lead. However by half time Worcester had reduced the deficit to 12 – 5 with a well taken try albeit against the run of play.
The second half started brightly for both Saracens and followers of Royal Navy Rugby. Navy half back Loz Morton scored her first try for her new club as a celebration for her selection for the England Academy trials. The score extended the Saracen’s lead to 17 – 5 and made the game safe. Despite Saracens easing off towards the end of the game and allowing Worcester to close they maintained their unbeaten start of the season. So Loz Morton alongside Maggie Alphonsi MBE on the same winning score sheet. One for the scrap book.
