Navy Avenge, Twickenham Defeat
The Royal Navy finally managed to secure some silverware during the close season. After winning the wooden spoon in the 2005 InterService Rugby Championships it was left to the Young Guns to fly the White Ensign in Cyprus at the Akrotiri International Floodlit Tens. Navy 7's Coach Billy May took a relatively young and inexperienced side (average age 21) to Cyprus to develop their rugby skills and sevens game in the 10's arena. The week long competition provided some stiff opposition for the Navy side in the Group and Knockout stages with close encounters involving the RLC Corps side and an RAF Akrotiri side in the semis before finally beating 25 Regt RE in the Final by 19-0. A final record of Played 6, Won 6, Points for 288, Points Against 12, Army Beaten...... RAF Beaten!! The Royal Navy side would like to thank RAF Akrotiri RUFC for a well organised and professional competition, We will be back next year to defend our title!!
