Royal Navy Rugby Union is delighted to welcome a new player to the team in the shape of Hampshire’s largest Volkswagen retailer, Peter Cooper Ltd. Launching the new partnership onboard HMS ARK ROYAL Commodore Jim Patrick, Chairman of Navy Rugby said, ‘We are delighted to be able to welcome Peter Cooper Volkswagen onboard and it is fitting that we join together in such a prestigious partnership onboard such a ship. Royal Navy Rugby revolves around teamwork, commitment and the unflinching pursuit of the highest of standards and I am certain these values are shared with Peter Cooper.’ Peter Cooper Volkswagen has been Hampshire’s largest privately owned Volkswagen group on the South Coast of England for the past 25 years and the cars supplied by the company will enable the Navy’s coaching and development teams to criss-cross the region to deliver training at all levels of the game, from elite to beginners. Navy Rugby has a strong commitment to developing the playing of the sport, including training match officials, coaches and the large numbers of volunteers required to make it all happen, and the vehicles will be key to its delivery. Darren Cooper (Managing Director) accompanied by Peter Cooper, the Chairman of the franchise, and Chris Godfroy (Operations Manager), said onboard Ark Royal, ‘We are looking forward to working with Navy Rugby and raising the profile of Volkswagen in the region. The Royal Navy and the sport of Rugby have the right profile for Volkswagen.
