Referees Look to Communicate the Right Message
The Royal Navy Rugby Union Referee's Society's annual seminar will be held at HMS TEMERAIRE on Wednesday 19 September. This year's theme is ensuring that referees 'Communicate the Right Message'. Again the Society has put together a well balanced development day supported some top speakers. Mikel Mellick, the Consultant Psychologist to the RFU National Panel and Elite Match Officials, returns to give a presentation on a Psychologist's View of Rugby Referee's Body Language and What He Gives Away (How to Hide Your Emotions). This view will be balanced by those expressed by Tom Drewitt. Tom is an ex Super 12 player and currently coaches in the National Leagues. He will be speaking on the Messages a Referee gives to the Coaching Staff and Spectators. Finally the day will be wrapped up by Navy Society stalwart and now the RFU's Referee Development Officer for the South West, Steve Harland. Steve will be passing on helpful hints on How to Pass the Right Message.
