RN Sharks Head West
The RNRU Navy Sharks season continues this weekend with a visit to Keynsham Rugby Club for the West Country 7's. This is a large and popular tournament which has attracted some 33 teams including UK 7's circuit sides the Samurai Sharks, Apache Raiders and the British Army.
The competition commences at 10am on Saturday 16 Jun 12, the tournament will commence with the group matches (8 groups of between 4 - 5 teams), with the draw for these groups taking place at 9am (follow the RN Sharks games on Twitter@RNRugby). Following the group stages teams finishing 1st will go into the Cup, 2nd placed will enter the plate, 3rd the bowl and finally 4th the shield competitions respectively.
The Sharks will be Captained by Royal Navy Senior XV No 8 ET (WESM) (Ian) Cooper (HMS Collingwood as well as seeing the return of Lt (Nial) Copland (HMS Portland) and Mne (Seta) Raumakita (42 Cdo RM) who will add speed and a harder edge to the Sharks defensive game.
The Sharks; lead by Lt Sam Cuff RN, Capt Scott Ashley RM and WO1 Billy May RM will have a stronger and more experienced squad for this tournament with the following players being selected:
