Doc has had a long standing playing and coaching career with the RNRU. Doc's Navy playing career started in 1984 when he represented the RN Colts and U21s, he won 4 Senior XV caps 2001-03 before eventually returning to a Navy shirt to play for the RN Mariners.

Upon his appointment Doc commented

"It is a great honour, I feel humbled and privileged to be selected as the CS DoR. I am really looking forward to working with colleagues from all three Services to bring together the best team possible for both the U23 match at Twickenham in April as well as the already confirmed fixture next November against the Barbarian's in Plymouth. Additionally, I will be actively looking to find suitable opposition for both the CS (W), as well as a fixture for the more mature members in a CS over 35's side".

Cdr (Andy) Kellett RNRU DoR said of Doc

"His broad spectrum of experience, across the full range of service representative rugby make him an ideal candidate to head up the CS Rugby and take it forward after a successful couple of years with the RAF in the lead. After 4 operational tours in Afghanistan and Iraq over the last 6 years, he was instrumental in the development of the newly formed Afghanistan National Rugby side".

Currently Doc is undertaking an MSc in Intelligence Analysis and Security Studies at Brunel University. In between studies and coaching the Brunel University side, he is part of the coaching team at Old Northamptonians.
