Round up of events for Army vs Navy U23’s Friday 15 November
Despite the result, the Royal Navy Rugby Union had a great day on Friday. The day was full of excitement and promise as we hosted the Army Rugby Union, Vice Presidents, Life Members, Sponsors and guests.
ESS
VAdm P A Jones CB presented Chris Garside from ESS with a framed shirt as a small thank you for their continued support to the Royal Navy Rugby Union. Chris Garside and Dev Dhillion were both in attendance and were delighted with the shirt. The replica shirt will be available online and will also be sold through a selected number of ESS managed outlets within establishments from early 2014.
Royal Navy Rugby Union launch new Under Armour Kit
Gavin Vaughan Evans and Chad James from Under Armour were in attendance to watch the U23’s run out in the new Under Armour kit. Gavin Vaughan Evans presented the Royal Navy Rugby Union Chairman Chris Alcock with one of the new shirts. The team at Under Armour have done a fantastic job with design and brand for the Royal Navy Rugby Union and we cannot wait for our new shop to launch in December. The Royal Navy Rugby Union replica will be available to purchase in January 2014.
U23’s Presented with Colours
VAdm P A Jones CB presented colours to ten new Royal Navy Rugby Union players. Colours are awarded to players who participate in Inter Service matches. To view images and see the full list of the ten players to receive their colours click here
Army Secretary – Blue blood
The Royal Navy Rugby Union were delighted to welcome Chris Fowke and his family to the ground on Friday. We found the Army Rugby Union Secretary Chris Fowke secretly wearing Royal Navy Rugby Union cufflinks. Lined up for a picture the Secretary for the Army Rugby Union revealed the blue blood within, Chris’s father served as a CPO in the Royal Navy.
Value the volunteer
Ian Cooper and Dave Wakefield were both awarded with the Value The Volunteer earlier this year at the AGM. On Friday they were presented with their awards and once again the Royal Navy Rugby Union thanked them for their continued efforts. Click here for full story on Value the volunteer.

The U23’s last game of the season will be against the RAF. The KO is 13.30 and the match will be played at RAF Halton.

The annual match at Twickenham will be played on 3rd May 2014.
