The opening matches of this years Inter Services Rugby Union Championships produced three hard fought and passionate encounters. First to the plate were the RN Veterans who after a final nail biting 10 minutes of deadlock were pipped at the post 24:23 by the RAF Vultures. Next up were the RN Women who performed valiantly with a great display of quality rugby to retain the trophy they won last year - after trailing for most of the game they scored 2 very well worked team tries in the last ten minutes to come out well deserved winners 13:5. In The final game the Senior XV rattled up 2 cracking tries in the first 20 minutes and notwithstanding the onset of heavy rain were sufficiently in charge of the game to shift their style to score 2 more classy forward tries leaving the pitch to the enthusiastic applause of the record crowd at Burnaby Road with a scoreboard reflecting the final score RN 34 RAF 6.
