Sam Laird – Player Profile

As we approach the start of the season we are looking at some of our players and sharing with you some of their thoughts, highlights and achievements.

Sam Laird
"Sam Laird has been a key figure in the RNRU Representative Teams for a number of seasons, displaying unrivalled commitment at the breakdown, he is the scourge of many a team in the contact area.  His turn over rate is unmatched and his ability to link play is a highlight of his game.  Sam is the first and to date, only back to back recipient of The Proud Heritage and Exciting Future Trophy (Senior XV emerging talent) and Cossack Sword Winner (Senior XV players player of the year), clearly demonstrating the value in which he is held by both the Team Management and Players alike.

Sam is a coach’s dream, bright, enthusiastic and totally committed for every session and match, he is looking forward to another season.  In training and during games he sets the standard that others need to match and I am sure he will have another successful year”. Director of Rugby Andy Kellett
