Sharks Ready to Bite into Their 2022 Season
Summer is here. the sun is coming out, holiday plans are being made and Sevens is back!
The Royal Navy 7s team, the ‘Navy Sharks’ start off their 2022 campaign in the GB Super 7s Series at the first tournament at Newbury RFC this weekend. Now one of the core teams the Sharks will be up against so tough competition in the series this year with major elite teams from around the country as well as International teams from China, Spain and Hong Kong.
In preparation for the 7s season, the Navy Sharks have had a mixture of Strength and Conditioning and on field training overseen from their Head Coach LH Silivenusi Buinimasi. Coach B said ”After our successful first season in the Series last year, it is imperative that we start this season of correctly. We have some hard competition this year, but I know that our players have done all the prep work and are in a strong place, both mentally and physically."
The Navy Sharks consist of Sailors and Royal Marines from units all over the country and the 7s side is proving to be an important building block for the Royal Navy Senior XV team. The Sharks will be playing in lots of tournaments over the next couple of months including: Isle of Wight, Brentford, Stafford, Carmarthen, Aldershot and Llandrindod. Sevens Tournaments make for a great day out and the team are always grateful for vocal Naval support.
The Navy Sharks form one part of the Royal Navy 7s family with the Women’s team and Development team in action throughout the season.
