Under 23s set for Inter Services Conclusion
The Royal Navy Under 23s round off their season on Wednesday as they take on the RAF U23s in the last match of this year’s Inter Service Championship.
With the disappointing loss against the Army 2 weeks ago in Plymouth still fresh in their minds, the Navy U23’s head to Witney RFC to take on the RAF on Wednesday. Their opponents will also be looking to avenge their defeat against the Army after blowing an 18 point lead. Despite the match being a dead rubber there is always pride to play for in an Inter Services.
The Under 23s have had some sparkling moments throughout the season and Wednesday will be the last chance for the players to showcase their talents prior to the Senior season. The side demonstrated serious determination against the Army in the second half but unfortunately they couldn’t capitalise on their territory and possession. The RAF will provide another test especially in this away fixture.
Assistant Director of Rugby Owen Salmon commented “We didn’t feel we did ourselves justice against a good Army side, particularly in the 1st half where we gave away too many cheap penalties and couldn’t get a foot hold in the game. The team have been really focussed this week and are determined to put in a much better performance”.
