In their first outing as the 'Navy Sharks' the RN 7's side certainly had added bite to their inaugural performance in the 2006 Dubai Overseas Invitational Competition. Against what was perceived to be the strongest opposition in their Pool they cruised past the Varsity Blues to record a 40:0 win. The opening try was scored by Rob Lloyd after 2 minutes making a sharp break for the line following a penalty which he converted (7:0). On 4 minutes the Sharks secured their ball from a lineout and a flowing move in the backs saw Josh Drauiniu crossing for the second try which Lloyd again converted (14:0). The Sharks continued to press the Blues who could not get out of there own 22, a good scru...
Team Alec 1: Good pedigree side made up of players from Dubai, England, South Africa & Scotland). Following their convincing win over the Varsity Blues a step up in play was required to keep the Navy Sharks results intact. From the start Alec 1 put the Sharks under intense pressure which finally lead to a try which was converted after 3 minutes (0:7). Alec 1 then kicked the ball start into touch from the restart, which gave the ball to the Sharks on the halfway line – a good quick piece of play going through 4 sets of hands found Josh Drauniniu who again showed a clean pair of heels to the defenders, Rob Lloyd converted (7:7). The game then ebbed and flowed for the next 4 minut...

From the off it was evident by the size and physicality of Clyde & Co that they wanted to take contact and bash up the middle of the Sharks defence. The sharks quickly latched onto this and kept the ball moving avoiding contact wherever possible; with a good move going through at least 10 phases was finished off with a cutting line being taken by Joe Poole taking him under the posts and was converted by Rob Lloyd (7:0) A well marshalled defence again caused Clyde & Co to turn over the ball on 6 minutes and quick hands moved the ...

A good crowd turned out to see the RN U23s take on Hampshire at Burnaby Road on a sunny autumn afternoon. The RN were missing a number of key players through both injury and deployment but were looking to field a side that contained players who would be in the Inter-Services Squad come the end of the month. The RN were quick to establish early pressure with some good drives into the heart of the Hampshire defence. Some strong initial defence by Hampshire kept the RN at bay, but 4 minutes of sustained pressure led to hooker Dale Smith burrowing over for the score. (5-0) The RN tried to assert their authority but a loose passage of play with too many knock ons and stray final passes was fr...
