The Royal Navy U23s played their second and final match of the 2011 Inter Services Championship on Friday night against an Army Academy XV, at the United Services Portsmouth RFC Ground, Burnaby Road, Portsmouth. With the Army having narrowly beaten the RAF, and the Navy losing to their Light blue opponents by a slim margin (10-9) only the week before, the scene was set for a struggle of titanic proportions.
From the whistle, both sides thundered into each other determined to make a dent in their opponent's defence. With the Navy coming under periods of sustained pressure, the Army soon had a first attempt at points on the board after only 7 minutes on the clock but without success, th...
On Saturday Royal Marine and Navy Senior XV Flanker Corporal (Greg) Barden led an England Sevens Team for the Quarter-Final of the HSBC World Sevens Series against the current series champions New Zealand.
Barden had been named as Captain of the England Sevens Team at the start of the sevens season, a prestigious position of which Greg said: "The captaincy is a huge honour. It's a big ask from the coach to take on that responsibility but hopefully it's something I'll thrive on and enjoy immensely throughout the season.
England Sevens Head Coach Ben Ryan said of his selection of Barden as Captain "Greg has enormous respect from everyone. He's quiet but when he does sp...

However, these conditions did not deter the HMS Heron Rugby team as they were fired up and ready to take the game to HMS Seahawk. This quarter final had every aspect of making it a great game of rugby.
The game kicked off and HMS Heron were immediately on the back foot from some good attacking lines from the Seahawk back line, ...
The Semi Final of the Navy Cup between RNAS Culdrose and HMS Albion played on Tue 29 Nov 11 at a very Wet and Windy day at RNAS Culdrose Sports pavilion. A much anticipated game between the best of the Fleet Air Arm and Fleet Flotilla sides, with the referee Lt (Jane) Pitzi having her work cut out for her. HMS Albion won the toss and had the discussion, deciding to play against the wind first half. Culdrose kicked off and for the first 10 minutes of the game was very scabby, unfortunately HMS Albion gave away an early penalty, but Culdrose were unsuccessful with the kick. The game was now up and running in full swing both teams putting in great tackles and phases or play together even th...
