A healthy crowd turned out to see the Royal Navy President's XV take on Devonport Services RFC on their home turf, the Rectory, 2 nd Avenue Plymouth.   It was a great evening for rugby, crisp and clear, and the teams didn't disappoint playing a game of free flowing rugby, with good support lines and plenty of tries scored.   Final score RN President's XV 58 - DSRFC 14.     This was the third fixture of the season for the Royal Navy Rugby Union President's XV, and their final match before taking on the Royal Australian Navy at Burnaby Road on Wednesday 7 March.   The coaching team have been keen to trial as many players as possible, giving them exp...

Commander A Roger Godfrey Royal Navy The Royal Navy Rugby Union informs all members of the sad news of the recent death of Roger Godfrey.  He passed away peacefully on 28 January 2018 after a long and courageous fight against a most debilitating illness. There will be a Service of Thanksgiving for Roger at Warblington Church, Warblington, Portsmouth, Hampshire PO9 2TU at 1230 on Friday 23 February.   His wife Sue and son Nick and all the rest of Roger’s family welcome Roger's friends and colleagues to join them. The Royal Navy Rugby Union Senior XV travelled to Cambridge University RUFC on a dreary February day.  While most sensible people stayed indoors the Senior XV took about 6 hours to travel the 150 miles round the M25.  The match kicked off late and in just over an hour the referee blew his whistle - the final score was 0 - 0.     Despite the delay in their arrival, the Royal Navy Senior XV were up for the challenge.  This was their second fixture of the season; in contrast for their opponents it was the final match of the season.  The Cambridge squad included 11 'Blues' players.  Ringing the changes, Marine Pat Coy started as full back in place of ...

In freezing cold conditions the Royal Navy Rugby Union Women continued their season with a win against Yeovil Ladies at Royal Navy Air Station Yeovilton. Dominating the match from the beginning, the women won with an impressive score of 39 - 0. From kick off the Navy Women were in an attacking position and held Yeovil in their 22. Despite conceding an early penalty, the Yeovil throw in was not straight and the Navy attacked from the resultant scrum. Forced into touch, the Navy ripped the ball from Yeovil and after a fantastic display of passing play Abi Ashby scored the first try of the match. Seven tries delight spectators in season opener

In their first match of the season the Royal Navy Rugby Union Senior XV hosted the students from Oxford University RFC.  Despite the opposition getting the first try, the Royal Navy soon began to dominate, winning the match 42 - 24.
