Six Try Success in Surrey for Senior XV

The conditions at Molesey Road were crisp and clear when the Royal Navy Senior XV travelled to Esher RFC for their third match in preparation for the Inter Service competition in April.  The sides appeared evenly matched at the start but the Navy team got into their groove by the second quarter and when the final whistle blew they had notched up an impressive 3 - 40 victory! Weekend run out for HMS Westminster

HMS Westminster, alongside for a weekend in Plymouth during her Post Upkeep Sea Trials, took the opportunity to play a fixture against local side Plymstock Albion Oaks RFC.  The Ship's team enjoyed the opportunity to get out and play but it was the local side that got the better of them, winning 34-12. The team, accompanied by a good number of Ship's Company spectators, arrived early to set some basic patterns, before kicking off on a cold afternoon which threatened snow.  Oddly for a Ship’s team Westminster found themselves in a position where they were lending players to the opposition, with Lieutenant Slater and Able Seaman May volunteering to don the Plymstock green ...

Royal Navy Kicks off Glasgow Hawks rugby fixture

The Royal Navy Senior XV will travel to Glasgow to take on the Glasgow Hawks on Wednesday 8 March 2017. The game will kick off at 7.30pm at the old Anniesland sports grounds at the High School of Glasgow, home of the Glasgow Hawks; the event is free to attend and all spectators are welcome. The two teams last met in 2007 to play a memorial match for Craig Hodgkinson, a former Royal Marine and Hawks player who tragically died playing rugby following a cardiac arrest. There will be a collection for charity and all proceeds will be split between the Craig Hodgkinson Trust and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.
