A hard test for the Senior XV at London Irish

The Royal Navy Rugby Union Senior XV travelled to Sunbury-on-Thames for a late notice match following cancellation of their previous fixture against Richmond RFC due to a water logged pitch. The contest saw the Navy Rugby team taking on the might of a London Irish A side accustomed to playing rugby at the highest level. Under the glare of the Hazelwood floodlights the Royal Navy Rugby Union Senior XV stepped onto the pitch as visitors and were to prove their ability to challenge the London Irish side. Undaunted at the prospect of playing an elite side away the Royal Navy Rugby team played with palpable resolve. It was to be a tough test but one which the team took on with brutal commitm...

Navy Women secure win in Swansea

The Royal Navy Rugby Union Women secured a win against Swansea University Ladies at the St Helens Rugby and Cricket ground in a tense match which saw the visitors win 15 - 19. The Navy Women attacked strongly from the start and spent the entire first 10 minutes of the match inside the Swansea 22, however, they were unable to break through a determined Swansea defensive line. At 25 minutes and against the run of play, Swansea achieved a fantastic break down the wing and scored the first try of the game. The restart saw a determined Navy once again dominate the Swansea 22. A deliberate knock on by Swansea denied the Navy a try, but earned Swansea a yellow card. Minutes later the Navy Wome...

Royal Navy Run Riot at Burnaby Road

With the Commonwealth Navy Rugby Cup (CNRC) reduced to just two teams, the only fixture of the tournament was played at Burnaby Road between the Royal Navy and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).   The RN ran out convincing winners with a comprehensive 61-0 victory. The Royal Navy Rugby Union did not take long to get established in the only game of the CNRC 2018; they set their stall out early and kept the pressure on their opponents for the full 80 minutes, finishing the game with 9 unanswered tries and 8 of them converted.   The first score was not long in coming, the RN turned over from a RAN scrum and Fairbrother was on hand to pick up and touch down to chalk t...
