RN(W) Announce New Team Captain

It is with great pleasure that the RN Women announce that POET(WE) Sarah Jenkins (HMS Collingwood) will be taking over as Team Captain with immediate effect.  Jenkins has been a member of the RN(W) since 2006 and is one of the 17 RN(W) capped players.  As No 10 and Vice Captain last season, she showed strong leadership qualities and was the clear choice for Captain.  Jenkins said "I am both proud and honoured to be taking on this role and am looking forward to next season where I hope we can build on the successes that we've had this year." HMS Lancaster 0 v Bermuda Police XV 22

On Sunday 9 th June HMS Lancaster RFC left the ship to play our opening game of ATP (N). In true ships rugby fashion we arrived with 17 players but full of confidence. It was clear during the warm up that the opposition was made up of more than just some veteran police officers who haven't played rugby for a few years. The referee was unable to turn up due to an engagement with a golf course so the superintendent of the Bermudian police force gladly agreed to not play, but to officiate.  As kick off drew closer a few ships supporters turned up in high spirits which is always a massive boost, and appreciated.  With the traditional under the posts team photo completed we had ...

New Senior XV Team Manager Announcement

WO2 Andrew ‘Taff' Wilcock has taken over as the RNRU Senior XV Team Manager (TM), from Lt Cdr Chris Roberts RN, who stood down after this years Army v Navy match to concentrate on his new executive role as the RNRU Director of Community Rugby. Taff is the current RNRU U23s TM and will continue that role this autumn and hopefully see some of his protégés play themselves in to the senior team next year.  Taff, a Marine Engineer (Submarine) by trade, works in support of the SSN/SSBN Class of Submarines at MoD Abbeywood, responsible for the maintenance policy and UMMS Delivery to the SM Fleet.  A rugby man through and through, he has played rugby (and run ...

ROYAL NAVY WOMEN END OF SEASON PRESENTATIONS

On Sat 1 Jun, the RN Women held their End of Season presentation lunch at the Royal Maritime Club in Portsmouth.    First up was the presentation of certificates to those Ladies who played their first Inter Services matches this season.  Certificates were given to NNS Alice Kightley (DSHE) and AET Lisa Christie (702 NAS).  MA Amy Risker (Keogh Barracks) had her certificate presented at her passing out parade by her Commanding Officer and CPOAET Billi Staite (MAA) and SLT Helen Stevenson (HMS Illustrious) were unable to attend.  The next presentation was for the Most Improved Player of the Season.  This player is selected by the Coaching team as the pers...

After a busy Inter-service Championship 2013, going around watching as many games as possible across the whole spectrum of service rugby and the CSU23's competing against OxBridge as the for runner to the main event at Twickenham.  The CS DoR's attention is now firmly focused on the Remembrance day fixture to be held in Plymouth on 12 November.  A detailed road map has been emailed to all single service head coaches and Directors of Rugby on the how the CS DoR intends on achieving this.
