HMS KENT Vs KUWAIT NOMADS

During a brief well earned break alongside in Kuwait HMS Kent's rugby team was invited to play a match against the local ex-pats. The match was played at the Nomads normal "Home" Pitch (somewhere in Kuwait City) on 10 Aug and started at 6pm. A warm welcome was given their Chairman Lieutenant Colonel Matt Perkin, Captain Stuart Jarvis and referee Simon Cottrell. They admitted that unfortunately they had a lot of the first team away on holiday, as their season doesn't begin until Sept, but they had kept to their word by not fielding their Fijians! KIT FOR KIDS – RNRU TOWNSHIP APPEAL

At the end of September the Royal Navy Rugby Team will be visiting Cape Town in South Africa to compete against Australia, New Zealand and the hosts in the Commonwealth Cup. The visit will culminate in a fixture to be held at Newlands RFC between the Combined Navy Barbarians and a Cape Town Select Team. In an initiative supported by the Rugby Football Union and the South African RFU coaches from the RNRU and members of the squad will visit youth groups, within Townships, to introduce the game of rugby to the children and hopefully, with your support, distribute much needed rugby shirts. NATO Lions Vs HMS YORK

With several key players missing and after a couple of defeats the NATO Lions were looking to end their season on a high against a tough side from HMS YORK. The game started at a lively pace with the Lions pack proving they had the strength to dominate play up front driving the YORK pack back over their own line on several occasions. YORK only being saved by some sound defence keeping the ball up. The Lions opened the scoring midway through the first half with a try from Brian Blake, which again was made by the forwards.
