RN Men Make Minimal Fuzz in Dispatching Police
RN Senior XV
British Police
The Royal Navy Senior Men had a heist in mind against the police as they nicked a big win in Stourbridge.
With the oppostion, The British Police RFC, already having beaten the RN's next opponents (The RAF), this match was never going to be won at a plod and the RN came out firing with such intesity that it was nearly criminal!
From the kick off it was obvious that the Navy were settled and ready for the test with strong defence that led to an early penalty opportunity to kick to the corner. And it wasn't long before the Navy got on the scoreboard. 10 minutes into the game and sustained pressure on the Police tryline led to the Navy being held up and LA(AH) Ben Watson returning his second kick receipt in to contact before MNE Seta Raumakita scored in the corner.
The Police soon started to pressure the Navy but brave defence and a big turnover allowed AET Jordan Gott to kick for territory and thereafter Surg Lt Henry Hughes spotted enough of a gap to make a jailbreak for the Police tryline twice in quick succession to leave the Navy ahead 17-0 after 20 minutes.
The intensity was mounting and justice was served when the Navy got a Penalty Try after Cpl Ed Pascoe was pulled back after charging down a kick with a score looking obvious, then AB(Sea) Jesse Lowe weaved his way through the defence to score and make the half time score 31-0.
The second half was slow to start and eventually the Police got on the scoreboard courtesy of an overthrown Navy line out, but this was quickly followed by a try from Mne Duncan who made another open play break to dart for the corner.
Both teams brought on fresh legs for the last 20 minutes of the game which included a try a piece, including one for AET Rutter who went on to convert.
It was an all action game, and when the final whistle went both teams were definitely ready for arrest.
The Royal Navy Senior Men are next in action in their Inter Services Opener on the 9th of April against the RAF at Ealing Trailfinders Sportsground in London. Tickets are on sale online.
