Following some good wins against HM Prison Service, Taunton RFC and Torpoint RFC and coming close against typically strong teams including Havant and Torbay Sharks, the Mariners performed when they needed to; defeating the RAF Vultures 39-15 and then settling the Interservice decider against the Army Masters, beating them 20-15. Despite the wind and rain, the Fleet Air Arm and the Royal Marines produced a fitting finale to the 2015/16 Inverdale Challenge. In the end it was the all-round fluidity of the Royal Marines game, controlled by their halfbacks Glastonbury and Cadywould that laid the foundations for a 28-12 victory by four tries to two.
