Wednesday night saw the Royal Navy Women Development Squad have their second run out of the season against Bath RFC’s 2XV at RNAS Yeovilton. The women’s section of Bath RFC are becoming more and more ambitious and the side that the Royal Navy faced are currently sitting 4 th in their league. Despite this ambition from the club side it was ultimately a night of celebration for the Royal Navy who made the most of the opportunities presented to them.

The Royal Marines Band Service RFC have pitched in to get back to playing rugby once again and as a Service have resumed two annual rugby memorial events after the enforced Covid-19 suspension of play.
The first event was the Holland Bowl which is a competition played internally within the Royal Marine Band Service and that commemorates the passing of Musician Barry Holland in 1994.
The Second event was the Deal Memorial match played against Deal RFC as a memorial to the tragic bombing of the School of Music in Deal in 1989 where 11 members of the Band Service lost their lives.

The Royal Navy U23 side played their final student opposition of the season yesterday in bright and fresh conditions. Plymouth University was the opposition and Ivybridge RFC the venue for the current Inter Service Champions’ penultimate warm up game.
Head Coach Andy Vance had hoped for a quick start but it was the students who made the most of a collapsed scrum in the opening phases of play and their fly half kicked them into a 3-0 lead. On Friday, RFU President and RNRU Life Member, HH Jeff Blackett and his wife Sally will be starting a 150 mile walk over a 15 day nationwide tour that will see them visit 18 of the RFU’s Constituent Bodies. This year, the RFU celebrates its 150 th Anniversary and Jeff wanted to mark the occasion by embarking on this challenge to visit as many clubs and CBs as possible so that he could raise awareness of the anniversary, thank volunteers for keeping the game going during the pandemic and to raise important funds for the Injured Players Foundation.
