First to the plate were the RN Veterans who after a final nail biting 10 minutes of deadlock were pipped at the post 24:23 by the RAF Vultures. Next up were the RN Women who performed valiantly with a great display of quality rugby to retain the trophy they won last year - after trailing for most of the game they scored 2 very well worked team tries in the last ten minutes to come out well deserved winners 13:5. Both teams met on a balmy winter's day in Toulon where excitement, during a Six Nations campaign, was high on both sides. Both sides managed to field an impressive squad of 20 players in what proved to be a high tempo yet good natured match. A tense first half saw little action to trouble the scorers until Lancaster went ahead thanks to a try from LPT 'Richie' Way who used superior speed to outsprint the French cordon.
