The RNRU and the Cornish Pirates are delighted to announce that two Royal Navy Rugby players, Edd Pascoe and Timoci Kava, have signed to play with the Pirates this coming season.     The Royal Navy duo, Cornish Musician Edd Pascoe (24) and Fijian Logistician Timoci Kava (27), are looking forward to a full and interesting season with the Pirates and welcome the challenge of Championship Rugby. Edd, who plays Trombone with the Plymouth Royal Marines' Band, was educated in Falmouth. It was a fine, breezy day when the Sharks attended the oldest Sevens event at Abingdon RFC, near Oxford. Looking to make an impact after recent disappointment, the Sharks travelled with a changed squad - Greg Loydall and Roko Kurusasa were back for their first games this season and Mariner Paul Mortenson added his experience too.  Player availability was always going to be tough during main summer leave and with 17 other teams entered it was set to be a long hard day for all involved.   The first match kicked off at 11am with the Sharks pitted against the Grove.  After 30 seconds the Sharks scored with a try from Luke Cooper followed by his second a minu...

Both Rugby codes united on the quayside next to HMS VICTORY to celebrate the success of the Royal Navy Rugby Union and the Royal Navy Rugby League, because for the first time both senior teams are the reigning Inter Service champions.   RNRU and RNRL Head Coaches, Ash Coates and Steve Lockton, cheerfully braved the intrigued stares of the historic dockyard tourists during their photo shoot. Chris Alcock elected as RNRU's most recent life member

It is with great pleasure that the Royal Navy Rugby Union announces the election of Chris Alcock as its newest life member. The announcement was made on the occasion of the inaugural RNRU Annual Dinner held at Fort Blockhouse in July where Chris was congratulated by the President, members of the Executive Committee, players, former team mates and the wider RNRU family. Chris's commitment to Navy Rugby began soon after he joined the Fleet Air Arm as an Observer. Based at RNAS Culdrose he managed to split his time between his naval duties and playing rugby. He made his debut for the Senior XV in 1982 and became the RN's 481st capped player. His playing career spanned 11 sea...

Announcement – Ivor ‘Knocker’ White

It is with sadness that the RNRU reports the news of the death of former Devonport Services player, Ivor 'Knocker' White. Ivor passed away on Friday 5th August after a short illness, having reached the grand old age of 92. His association with the club began in the 1940s and he continued playing in the second row until the late 1960s. He also fulfilled the roles of Fixtures Secretary, Bar Manager and was the Club President from 1986 to 2002. Elected as a life member of the Sporting Blues, his experience and sportsmanship will be sorely missed. His funeral will take place at 2pm on Wednesday 24 August at St Johns Church, Hooe, Plymstock and will continue afterwards at the Mountbatten...
