Bootnecks Overcome Gritty East

Bootnecks Overcome Gritty East to Kick Start Inverdale Challenge Defence The Royal Marines kicked off their defence of the Inverdale Challenge with a 40-13 win against RN East in Portsmouth. After good wins in Gibraltar and against the Medics in Plymouths the Bootnecks came into the fixture full of confidence, but it certainly wasn't one way traffic.  The game got underway with a real chill in the air, but both teams displayed a real intent to play expansive rugby. The teams had never played each-other before and both had a long lay-off due to the pandemic with minimal training time. Expectations for a fast-paced skilful game were not the highest to begin with! However, the critics were wrong. The first 20 mins was all action. Dragon brought the intensity from the outset. Driven by the crowd’s cheers, they used the wide 4G pitch to their ...

The semi finals were played on Wednesday the 10th of November with HMS Seahawk taking on HMNB Devonport at the Rectory Ground in Plymouth whilst HMS Heron travelled to HMS Sultan.
