The RNRU is pleased to announce the appointment of Lt Cdr Jon Caple RN as its new Director of Marketing.
Jon is well known to those within the Marketing function of the RNRU, having been involved in this area for the last 5 years; he has served as Merchandise Officer, Deputy Director of Marketing and more recently, as the Acting Director of Marketing.
Jon will take over the Executive post of Director of Marketing from the current incumbent and RNRU Chairman Capt Chris Alcock with immediate effect.

The Royal Navy Cup Final kicked off on a crisp winters evening in Portsmouth between the present holders HMS Seahawk from Culdrose, Cornwall against local boys HMNB Portsmouth. The Seahawk team was litter with RN Senior XV players who would all make a significant contribution during the evening. However, Portsmouth where not without their own Navy players with AB (Tom) Davies at centre to name but one.
The evening did not start well for the home team, as from the KO they gave away a penalty which Navy Skipper POAET (Dave) Pascoe took quickly and scored the first points of the evening which were added to by AET (Brian) Houghton 0-7.

Sophie began her rugby career as a scrum half aged 8 for Painswick RFC. But moved to flanker/second row by the time she played for Cheltenham ladies. She joined the RN 6 years ago and made her debut for the RN Women against Taunton in 2009, when she also scored her first try!
Sophie has represented the RN at the Inter Services for 3 consecutive years from 08/09 and was Vice Captain in 10/11 whilst serving on HMS Cornwall. Unfortunately due being deployed she missed most of the 11/12 season.
As well as Navy rugby, she was also selected for the Combined Services squad 3 times but was unable to attend due to Operational commitments.

This year the 42nd Navy Cup final will take place at Burnaby Road, the home of Navy Rugby on Wednesday 12 th December 2012 Kick-off 7pm. The challenge for this year's title will be battled out between HMNB Portsmouth and HMS Seahawk.
HMS Seahawk are the current holders of the trophy having won last year in the final against HMS Sultan. Within the history of the competition HMNB Portsmouth has won the Cup three times and will be seeking a forth. Whereas, HMS Seahawk have previously won the cup twice and are now looking for their third victory. (HMNB Portsmouth formally known as HMS Nelson)

Lt Cdr M (Doc) Cox RN has been appointed as Director of Rugby for the Combined Services effective from when the Royal Navy assume the Chairmanship of the CSRU. Doc has had a long standing playing and coaching career with the RNRU. Doc's Navy playing career started in 1984 when he represented the RN Colts and U21s, he won 4 Senior XV caps 2001-03 before eventually returning to a Navy shirt to play for the RN Mariners. On the coaching side Doc was the Head coach for the RN U23s 2006-09 and was part of the Senior XV coaching team 2010-11.
