Early Christmas Present for Navy Referee

Navy Rugby referee, Duncan McClement, has received an early Christmas present with his first senior international appointment.  While most eyes will be focussed on Wales v Italy and England v France on the opening day of the 2014 Six Nations tournament Duncan will be in Madrid for Spain v Russia as an Assistant Referee.  The match is part of the European Nations Cup where both teams play in the top league and is also part of the qualification process for the 2015 IRB World Cup.  Duncan already has happy memories of officiating on the Iberian Peninsular following a successful FIRA AER U19 tournament in Portugal earlier this year. Senior Rate lifts gold at annual Sports Award

A rugby playing Air Engineer has been named Sportsman of the Year 2013 at the annual Royal Navy Sports Awards. Fending off tough competition from fellow athletes, Chief Petty Officer (Air Engineering Technician) David Pascoe took the trophy for his contribution to Royal Navy Rugby. CPO Pascoe, who works in 771 Naval Air Squadron, the front line Search and Rescue unit based at RNAS Culdrose, first played for the Royal Navy Rugby Union Senior XV in 1999 and has never missed a season since.  He is the second most RN capped player of all time and is the longest serving captain in the Senior XV’s history.  He was presented with his award by Second Sea Lord, Vice Admiral ...

Pascoe Hitting the High Notes

Royal Marine Muscian, Edd Pascoe, has been awarded the Royal Navy Rugby Union’s Brian Weeks Memorial Trophy for his performances for the U23 XV. Named after former Navy Rugby Life Member and long standing Chairman of age group rugby in the Royal Navy, the trophy is traditionally presented at the end of the U23 XV Inter Service championship. It is awarded to the player, who in the opinion of the U23 XV coaching staff, has contributed most over the course of the season.
